Lady Antebellum will make its “Saturday Night Live” debut as musical guests on this weekend’s show (Saturday 1st October) and band member Dave Haywood (right) tells One Country they can’t wait to get there. And while the band hasn’t yet been asked to participate in a skit, Haywood says they would jump at the opportunity to poke a little fun at themselves.
“We’ve been dreaming of being able to do something like ‘Saturday Night Live’ for the longest time, and to finally have that coming up, we cannot say how excited we are about that,” he says. “I grew up watching that show. I’d stay up past when my mom would let me just so I could see Nirvana or Pearl Jam play back in the early ’90s. For me, that was a litmus test of who had made it.
“I wonder if there’s a little kid out there who’s going to watch and think ‘Man, that band must have made it,”” he says of Lady Antebellum’s Oct. 1 performance on the NBC show. “It’s a huge excitement knowing that we’ve got these cool opportunities.”
